We also ordered the Grand Banks Scallops which came with a Mushroom risotto. We ordered the Mahi Mahi in a Macadamia nut crust with lobster, it also came with asparagus and mash potatoes. The restaurant is in a very scenic location so be sure to take many pictures. The menu changes day to day and also the fish is caught fresh so the type of fish varies. Let's start from the beginning, it is extremely difficult to get a reservation here but if you do manage to it's well worth it! Typically they say they are booked out 6 months in advance but we were lucky enough to call 1 week prior to see if there was any cancellations and we managed to get a table. The entrance requires valet parking which is complimentary. All in all, it is a beautiful setting and the food is excellent, but extreme cost and average service will force us to other restaurants. I waited for a lengthy time to order dessert. I sat with a dirty plate in front of me for 15 minutes. The server had an assistant, who did not assist with our table at all. Stop interrupting our conversation and either bring more tea or refill the glasses. She asked four times if we we were ready for more iced tea without refilling the glasses. Our server was not very pleasant, it was an inconvenience to elaborate on the fish and the preparation. Therefore based on the still increasing prices, we will search for other options. Our 2023 visit was not a good experience either. Prices had increased significantly, but that was true everywhere. In 2021 we noticed the service was not as it was prior to the pandemic, but the food and ambiance was still stellar. However, we think this visit was our last. We have been traveling to Maui for 40+ years and each visit requires at least one lunch at Mama’s Fish House. It's always a unforgettable memory having the pleasure to dine there if you are on the fence just go make and make your own memories there. Prices are comparable to other locations on the island yet service ambiance and most importantly cuisine are outstanding and exceed the others. It truly is a gem do yourself a favor and just listen to all the excellent reviews and try for yourself. I typically enjoy dining on the locally caught fish often on fish I've only seen on their menu. Even coming from those who don't really enjoy seafood. Several times guests along with myself have commented that it has been the best meal they ever had. From the location, the decor, the service but most importantly the cuisine MAMA's exceeds the hype. You can set alerts on opentable to find a spot when someone cancels but they go fast. If you're looking for a more remarkable dining experience in Maui, you might want to consider trying other options.Īmazing! While it can be hard to get a table here it's worth the effort. The smoothie was the standout item, which is quite telling about the rest of the food. It's a bit ironic that my favorite part of the dining experience wasn't even the main focus of the menu.Overall, Mama's Fish House offers a decent meal with a nice view, but it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. It was delicious, refreshing, and perfectly balanced in terms of flavor and consistency. I've had better seafood elsewhere on the island.Surprisingly, the highlight of my meal was the smoothie. Nothing really stood out as exceptional or memorable, which was a bit disappointing considering the restaurant's reputation. However, the food didn't quite live up to the hype. The seafood was fresh, which is always appreciated, but the dishes were just okay. The restaurant itself offers a beautiful ocean view, which was a definite plus. I recently dined at Mama's Fish House during my visit to Maui, and although I had high expectations, I was left with mixed feelings about my experience.
